My 13 year old chihuahua is a sun worshiper also. She will bake herself. There are times I have to move her to the shade. However, she always goes back to the sun. Solar energy at its best.

No sun is to hot at 12 to 4 he needs only an hour out there unless it's starting to cool down a little. He needs water if he's out there to long.
