There is more opportunity in this country than there is anywhere else in this world. You must have a work ethic and unfortunately there are several generations now that have not been taught this fact. Ambition and drive to do without what you think you need and do without those things that you want in order to achieve your goals is the first step. Education is important but it no good to you without what I mentioned above. I barely graduated from high school and started and failed at three different businesses before I had the knowledge to build a successful business that has been existing for 28 years now. This whole process has taken 40 years. The point is you must distinguish what you need from what you want and understand that it takes time, hard work, sacrifice and treating those around you like you want to be treated. I could go on and on about this subject but what I have described are the basics, the foundation that you must have.
It wasn't always this way. Strange thing is as more people speak like this woman. The harder things become in a country/ society run by the people for the people. If America sucks and you are American then it your responsibility to make it better.

it's called have the independents encouraged to figure it out. the key answer here is work. I worked a full-time job, went to school part-time and maintained a family of 3. My daughter-in-law Has stood up in front of me and said she absolutely will not work that hard. now, the emphasis is on work smarter, not harder, but I think one needs to learn to do. Both America is one of the few places where you can influence your own life by working hard. I have also moved within the United States in order to get a better job or a higher paying job.

I won't get any likes for this but, here goes anyway. I understand how most of you feel,BUT, I think you are being way too harsh on her. Her biggest problem is her parents first then teachers and the media have let her down and NOT taught her what reality is the truth about life. She is young, dumb and has been led down a path she doesn't have a clue how to negotiate. There are some young people out there that could probably be saved if they had a mentor to teach them how to survive the world they find themselves in. Granted there are fewer and fewer of these kids but we should do what we can to teach them to grow. If they then reject the truth at least we can say we tried.
