i still have the ticket I bought in Yakima Washington I was blessed to have met with Mr cash back stage as a singer songwriter guitar player I was trying to get my songs in front of him he took his time to read all the lyrics and we spoke for half an hour I have met dozens and dozens of big stars in my life but Mr cash was a head above all the others I am an old man now Mr cash is in heaven and I still have a wonderful memory of that evening in Yakima Washington

Was anything ever said about Cash's first wife being black? Seems it woulda been a big "scandal" in the 50s. Beautiful woman, far prettier than June in my opinion. But yeah, definitely has African ancestry. She was played by white actress Ginnifer Goodwin in "Walk the Line" - Seems like that would be the real scandal.
