most kids today are raised with no morals, humility or respect only ignorance and hostility towards other people.

and the transit systems I was involved with it was a rule that you had to give up your seat for the elderly or disabled if you were sitting in certain seats!

Agree 100%, it comes back to the parent, who taught us manners and respect for others.

You are right, prejudice against elderly does happen, in doctor's office, dental office, stores, hair dressers, it does happen. EVERYBODY GETS OLD.

It's just basic common courtesy. And EVERYONE should observe it regardless of age. And I DO believe that it starts at home coming from the parents. But many kids these days seem to grow up "entitled" and feel others should cater to them and not the reverse. Basic common courtesy should be operational for most people regardless of age, sex, or political party. Both of my nephews were taught to show respect and behave like gentlemen while in public or their mother would discipline them by taking away favorite items for a certain time period. If they were truly rude the items would be donated to kids less fortunate than themselves. And believe me it only took that happening once and they would smarten up! And if they really wanted that item they'd have to raise their own money to purchase another one.

I am so glad you noticed. Respect has gone away. Unfortunately we live in a completely different world now. I’m now 65 in petty good condition but I know my time is coming soon when I will be unable to stand comfortably. Bless you

Truth, and it all started with the schools telling kids they were “special” in the 90’s. If you are special, rules don’t apply to you. And an entire generation grew up self-centered. And we are still dealing with the fallout from that.

you're absolutely right. most of this generation now they don't even respect yourself so what makes you think they would respect anyone else

Parents aren’t really parenting anymore. To easy to send them to their rooms to game, so they don’t bug them.

Children are not taught manners or any kind of respect. The majority of them do not have a strong familiar base and only see a parent 10-15 minutes a day. They are left on their own to raise themselves and some of them end up in gangs or in bad relationships.
