Bro, I'm going all in on this one...Beast mode. If you have a minute, I'll gladly explain.Based on the image and the context of the social media post, this appears to be a viral "prank" or mistake where someone accidentally (or jokingly) roasted a turkey with the plastic packaging or a protective liner still attached to the bird. What’s happening in the image: The "Skin": The dark, crispy-looking layer that the person is peeling back is actually burnt plastic or a nylon roasting bag that has melted and fused to the turkey. The Illusion: Because it was seasoned and cooked, the plastic took on the color and texture of roasted, crispy skin, which is why the caption says the "Dad thought that was turkey skin." The Reality: Underneath that dark layer, you can see the actual pale, unbrowned meat of the turkey. Is it safe? If this happens in real life, the turkey should not be eaten....You're welcome my people's 🙏 Happy New Year's.

it's cheesecloth. you can soak it in butter before you put it on top of the turkey. helps to keep the turkey moist and crisps up the skin.

This towel thing is new to me i just learned the steam method in the oven using soaked towels when baking bread also just recently. the first time i heard of towels used in cooking. Personally i like a crispy crunchier skin on the turkey

For the ppl that know, educate the ones that don't. Don't be hateful for them not knowing. There was a point in time where you didn't know how to read and wipe your ass and nobody talked down but educated

People used to use them a lot back in the day! It’s just a tradition or should I say a cooking technique that many women or cooks quit utilizing.

Cook your turkey upside down flip it over for the last half an hour. I’ve done this as a mistake cooking one Thanksgiving and never went back so delicious.

It’s cheesecloth to saturate in butter to keep meat juicy. However I’m sure this has nothing to do with being Caucasian as I learned this from my African American husband who is a chef smmfh
