Actually, the difference is that when the black African nations gained their independence, France,Britain, and Belgium destroyed everything hospitals, fire fighting equipment ,telephone switch boards, and telephone lines. Then, when African nations tried to buy equipment, they were overcharged and had to pay corporate interest rates. South Africa didn't get crushed in that manner.
