We were in Ecuador on a mission trip and we were invited to have dinner with the people in the village...they served us guinea pig. Most villagers can't afford chicken, and beef is nonexistent outside of city restaurants...and it is scant there. It is actually quite good.

this is probably in Peru. Guinea pigs are kept as food. They run wild there n are considered pests. N this is how they catch the wild ones. These will be kept n fed til it's time to eat them just like any other food animals people eat. Different countries eat different animals cuz that's what they got so get over it🤔
some countries eat guinea pigs. I saw some people cooking them and asked what it was. the people were from Peru. I personally wouldn't my kids had pet ones. but not everyone eats the same as In the United States
