This is the largest homeless camp in Washington State—and no, this is not Seattle.This is Olympia, Washington, which also holds the grim distinction of having the highest per capita homelessness rate in the state. A significant percentage of Olympia’s unhoused population is concentrated in this massive park. Given that reality, why hasn’t the city immediately designated the entire area as a sanctioned emergency encampment and deployed intensive wraparound services?

it's because there's a lot of trees. this has been going on for 20 years plus. that's because of the rent. it's just a domino effect of greed. some of them are drug addicts and could go into rehab. some of them are not. but there's no reason for there to not be clean and sober houses for drug addicts to go live in after they get out of a treatment center for 30 days. and yes the state would pay for it as if there is a program that nobody tells them about it. it will pay for 30 days inpatient and the clean and silver house for 3 months while they go get a job. they can start a new life and live there., received 90 million from the Biden Administration and nobody ever built a new shelter or a new mission. I just despicable what our state has what happened over the years. governor Inslee sure made a mess of the state. but soap something can be done with our new governor. it's going to take a village.

I wish they would all move to the capital campus. We've governed Ferguson. Lives in the mansion camp on that lawn that way it's at his front door step where they can be seen and maybe they can even be heard there. Presence would definitely be felt if they were just moved to the capital campus and live on the grounds. There would be a good spot for them to be seen and maybe just maybe something would be done good luck out there Olympia Washington.

I had no idea. Thanks to loving family, and the grace of God, I don’t expect to ever have to be there. It scares me to death that there are people who don’t deserve to be there, but through circumstances similar to mine, that may be where they end up. I will be forever grateful.

The jungle…. My girlfriend lived there. I can’t get ahold of her and only know she’s still alive by her brother telling me. I took her out of there and within a day she wanted to go back. She’s been out multiple times and chooses that place over safety. You’re right they go there to disappear and die. Sad.
