Being left out or feeling that way hurts us at every age, as a child it brings feelings of not being the cool, accepted kid. But as an adult, it can profoundly affect your sense of self, what is wrong with me, when am I not enough for someone else. Bottom line…consider seeking therapeutic support to work on being happy alone. Often self fulfillment brings renewed feelings of confidence and contentment which often attracts others. Thinking about you! You are enough! Find companionship in church, sports rec adult groups-soccer baseball basketball. Or cards groups, book groups, whatever interests you. Be a joiner, if you feel up to it.
I've been that way my whole life. It's getting better slowly. I've had to work on myself.
