Jacob Cockle died on May 28, 2013, at the age of 28, while filming a whirlpool at Hayle Harbour, Cornwall. The Incident: He was swimming in the vortex at Carnsew Pool, wearing a rubber horse mask to make a video for his YouTube channel, which had millions of views. Cause: He dove underwater to get a final shot with a GoPro and was sucked into a 40-foot sluice tunnel. He was found face down and later pronounced dead from drowning at Royal Cornwall Hospital. Aftermath: An inquest recorded a verdict of accidental death. Following the tragedy, the sluice system at the harbour was altered to prevent the dangerous whirlpool from forming again.

Uh... The whirlpool was created by the drainage, like what appears in your tub or sink when you pull the plug. While my heart goes out to family and friends, what he was doing was super ignorant and very much not dissimilar to playing 'Russian ruelette'. Very obviously not formed by an eddy line.
