My mom did this once when I was little. We were heading to my grammy's and there was a crowd of people standing around a pond watching a tiny dog drowning in the middle. She pulled over and ran in and saved it. It was waist deep. Not a single person even tried to help. She didn't even really know how to swim but she wasn't letting that dog die. That was almost 40 years ago.
