As an assist RN scrubbing into these and all surgeries. I LOVE the preconceived notion that surgery isn't barbaric. C-section is very barbaric even closing the uterus. As students, you should KNOW the gritty truth of what you're doing.... bc we don't get to turn away, we're needed. Buckle up buttercup.

maybe if they showed this stuff or a vaginal birth with extreme tearing (and then the sewing up) to HS kids, maybe we would have less teenagers having babies

It's really not that bad. And, if you're getting squeamish & you're studying to be in the medical industry, maybe you should rethink your decision.

I saw a video of a vasectomy being performed. Arguably, the most sensitive and delicate organ in a man’s body. Honestly looked like the surgeon was stuffing a reluctant olive. Just jabbed it back into the skin thru the incision 😳 It’s honestly shocking how roughly they treat the human body in the medical field. I’m more gentle stuffing a dead turkey!

might be a good firm of birth control. so weird how kids play all these killing games on video, but can't deal with reality. I'm 62. I helped kittens and puppies give birth before I was 6. I watched my neighbors 8mm of her giving birth when I was 8. no confusion or gross out, it was just realistic.

The ones are watching will be surgeons, the ones that can’t will be the doctor in the office that can’t tell whether you have a flu or cold

I was 39 when my son was born and I was in the surgical suite for the whole thing. It wasn't a planned one either. We had to wait for a doctor to get up because his shift didn't start until 7am. Meanwhile my wife and son were struggling. She crashed around 1am. that was unacceptable. We should have sued his lazy ass. This was not at some podunk hospital in the sticks. We were in a Metropolitan area. But they refused to call him in. They sent me home at 230 because I was raising hell. Threatening to have me arrested. But still refused to get a surgeon. And then he knocked the babies face, leaving him with a scar right below his right eye!

Why! A C-section (while still a surgical procedure) is quick and efficient. I scrubbed in on MANY sections, and most were less messy, and traumatic than vaginal deliveries!

Very immature reactions. If you’re old enough to be in college then you need to act like it, grow up. Some young adults these days are just as bad as highschoolers

It used to be part of the amazing thing about doctors is that they could remain professional even during cringe procedures. Not so much anymore. I challenge anyone to tell me they have a female doctor under 50 who performed a prostate examination on an old man. They'd rather you die than have to do something that may offend them. One more casualty in the war of the sexes.

If there are really med students they're acting really immature over watching a c- section being on a video or in real time real life, a c- section is probably one of the easier things to watch vs repairing a gun shot in injury or a car accident victim or even a self inflicted injury.

As a nurse I’d like to say one thing, Go Home and find a different career path. There is no way these are premed students or Med students. Do they know what a doctor is are they sure they’re in the right class I simply have a hard time believing that they just this shocked and horrified over something so simple I mean, they knew it was coming right?

I had a pregnant friend back in the 80s who had separated from her husband during her pregnancy. She had to have a c section and asked for me to sit in with her during the surgery. I did and I watched in the mirror they had where you could view if you want to. I don't gross out easily thank goodness. It was very fast from first cut to delivery was like 5 or 6 minutes max. I thought it was amazing.
