My belief is that good parents will always agree to putting their children first. And the type of man who usually expects to be head of the household is usually the same type who can’t remember when groceries are running low or what meals can be made from what’s in the fridge or when to do the laundry or keeping track of the bills or scheduling repairs, tracking school schedules and appointments, cleaning etc. If one person carries most of the mental load of what to do in the house THAT person is the head of the household. Some of the horror stories I read have me so glad I’m married to a man with common sense and not lazy.

I've never been married because I'm a teen but I'm speaking from my parents point of view. they always put me and my siblings first, and had 2 separate bank accounts one for the family wants like vacations and holidays and the other for bills, groceries, etc. No specific parent ran the house hold both in charge though my dad was the one in charge of discipline [my mom's punishment were always too far she's a traditional russian woman] and I've seen my parents with different sex friends, if it works for you guys you do you 🤷🏼♀️.

In the Bible it does say the man is the head of the household. He is also supposed to love his wife as he does himself. The wife is supposed to have deep respect for her husband. Also, when a man and woman get married they are to become one flesh. Their marriage needs to thrive before they can take care of children. Do children come first, yes they do. Parents will make sure their children needs are provided before theirs.

Married over 44 years. When we had our first son, our pediatrician told us that our marriage should not be ignored for children. We had date nights and talk of our goals continuously (they do change!). Our children were very important and we made many sacrifices and changes for them. But our marriage was number 1. We have been empty nester for over 9 years. It has been just the two of us and we didn’t skip a beat. Talk with kids and grandkids daily. But my marriage is still strong because we put it high on the list. We have a joint bank account too. In the beginning and for many years I made more money then he was the high earner. It was ours! We talk constantly about everything. Never spend over $100 without talking with other (does not include groceries and utilities). We set a budget from the get go. We have what we need and want. Now both retired and we live comfortably. If anything were to happen to either of us, we would be ok. My children were just with me for a short time.
