How was he allowed to do that? Actors have clauses written into their contracts that they are not allowed to do dangerous things even in their private life. Motorcycles, sky diving etc. If Tom Cruise got injured, that would make the movie studio lose so much money while he is recovering.

This was real. I was a co-pilot on the plane used for this shot. We all got to meet Tom and his crew. I helped tighten the cable holding him on to the side of of the plane in this particular scene. It was something else, lemme tell ya.

he was attached to the plane so he never would have fell. i remember when this came out. the holding on is for show. the insurance company would not allow it to happen any other way.
