Why is the dog on a cable? Wouldn't have been able to get away if the bear attacked! Irresponsible owner! She was able to distract the dog, but this could have gone terribly wrong! 😲

Let the dog go inside instead of putting her on a chain poor baby we have 5 living indoors they have their own room with a wood stove and airconditioner.

well it looks like a camping area, so I would say they tried him up to protect him from running off. If wasn't tied he would of chased that bear. So look at the picture before you put down someone.🤔

She should be tired up in the back instead of that helpless innocent dog ,Shame on people that do that. Why do people even have a dog if they're going to treat them like that ?What's the purpose. ? 😡

This looks like a public park area. Which requires it to her on a Leash. Maybe the owner tied the leash to the table so she could go use a public restroom. The bear wandered in the site while she was in using the facilities. It appears the owner did things right in this situation to save them both. Actually, had the dog been loose and wandering around, and it had seen the bear and ran, the bear would have likely given chase and the dog would have become prey. A bear is faster and stronger. If the dog was loose and ran, and sonehow manage to get away; it may have permanently been lost to the Forrest. I am thankful this ended well.

Looks like they might be at a campsite or on a hiking trail and the dog was chained to keep it from running off while they stopped—note the picnic table. When the bear appeared, she’s doing the best she can do to keep the dog from annoying the bear. Why does everyone seem to want to make something bad out of this?

Many people seem to assume that the dog is tied up all the time. The bear had no intention of attacking, which it most likely would have done if the dog had been free and charged it. that lady definitely did a great job by distracting her pet while the bear escaped, which apparently was its goal.

The owner was right there. Perhaps poochie is young and not fully trained. I vote for the woman. She kept her dog safe, so it didn't chase some animal and get lost or killed.

look at the whole picture. that is most likely a road side picnic area or a campsite. look there grill is on the table. I bet they were unloading the car for lunch when they noticed the bear. they put the dog out first with bowls so she could pee. you all are so critical.

Blue heelers are so smart but do have a tendency to be stubborn, independent and enjoy running free. This heeler is well trained and responds to his person properly. I don't think being tied up has any negative ramifications for the dog.... it seems to be a short term arrangement and probably kept the dog (and his person) safer than being able to roam freely.

The bear looks to be a juvenile bear, not big enough to “attack” as long as it doesn’t have a mother bear nearby.

Looks like they are camping and your dog has to be chained or fenced. ( yes people being fenced to camp) she made less of a distraction with the dog than going and grabbing the dog. The dog would have gone crazy. You don’t know more than one? Cubs? Owner played her cards well

Why would you live in a dangerous area like that and have your dog on a chain OUTSIDE!! That happened to a dog who's owne I know, who had their dog on a chain and would let them go outside to use the restroom room, but not too far to get away, but 2 dogs got to it and killed it because the dog couldn't get away.

You guys are just hateful. NOT ONE of you know what’s going on. I bet she ran right over as soon as the bear disappeared!! When out camping you HAVE to FOLLOW their RULES. Her dog listened to every sound of her voice. She kept her dog from being killed probably. That could have happened to anyone of you but yet talk trash about someone trying yo save her animal!!!!!!!!!

Every time we went camping with our dog we always had him chained up to the trailer hitch on our truck. When we would go to sleep, our dog came in with us. One thing different it doesn't state is that we always brought our pistol with us mainly for snakes, there were plenty of rattle snakes and water moccasins too.

avator

I would do the same thing if I were camping too. However that's a bear cub, so where's the mother bear? She's probably somewhere nearby.
