opposums do not carry rabies. they can't get rabies. Google it or better yet, do research. this is how misinformation is spread.

North America’s only marsupial. They don’t get rabies and they eat 5 thousand ticks a year. They also eat spoiled fruits and vegetables that are thrown out in the trash. I leave food out for them.

I don’t think it’s funny either. I also think it’s encouraging the boy to treat animals badly. He chased then stepped on an animal that was just minding its own business. I would have bit him too! God only knows what would have happened if the boy did catch it. If I was it I would have bit him too! Poor thing running for its life while a father is laughing telling his boy to catch him! I don’t think it’s funny. People need to be kind to all animals and teach their children to do so also! Not harm or scare them! Bad.

There are some areas where people eat possums is that what's going on here they going to eat the possum it's just I can't agree with that or that kind of behavior or chasing an animal down. It's just not something I would encourage.
The mouth on a opossum has teeth like a dog. I tried to get one out of my cat's house with a broomstick and got large teeth marks on the handle. Yes, they can bite.

In order to catch a possum be ready to get bit that is there only defench. I have one that comes to my back deck to eat what the cat didn't eat.
Opossums will bite to protect themselves or young if you get to close but no they don’t carry rabies because they’re body temperature stays to low for the virus to live. I had one move into my garage with her babies (2), through the doggie door. I called humane society who left it up to me to catch and release. I boarded up dogs door.
