That is called Capuchin, it was originally made in Spain in the convents. It is a fluffy pastry that is soaked in a vanilla syrup that can have cinnamon, ornmange or star anise flavor. It is delicious.

People that think it’s nasty evidently don’t travel very much and don’t try things that are different. I have been to several countries and tried things I thought looked gross but were actually were very good. Don’t put things down until you actually try them for yourself. If you don’t try it then just keep your comments to yourself. The people of different countries are really enjoy their food, so don’t put their way of life down because you don’t like what you see and don’t taste 👅.

I thought this looked familiar!!! My next door neighbor (a Greek family) would bake the cake at home and sell it in their diner!! I had the pleasure of eating this .. along with all kinds of other Greek food!! I came from a very ethnic neighborhood!!! Loved where I grew up!!!!

it's a simolina cake. very tasty. he not one touched the food with his hands. he used a spatula. you took it way out of proportion. I would love to see you cook and watch you lick your fingers.
It’s cake, of course I’d eat it. The pan is clean as is the pan next to it. Spatula is clean, counter is clean and it’s on paper in a box. That man’s hands touched only the spatula. Lemon, orange, honey anything but anise in the syrup. 😋
