Brazil nuts are high in Selenium which can be toxic and cause kidney failure. Iโm 54 and never knew this. We used to love cracking them open and eating them. But like anything else, it increases the RISK of toxicity just like smoking increases the risk of lung cancer. Everyone that smokes doesnโt get lung cancer, but it increases the risk.

I've heard that before..... but IDK, growing up I used to eat the Brazil nuts first when we got the deluxe mixed nuts. Granted, there was usually only 3 or 4 in the whole can, but I don't ever remember getting sick.
