Sounds like a pissed off Bobcat....it could be a mountain lion but the pitch is a little too high....I'd put my money on a Bobcat. I've heard them fairly often on my Great Grandparents farm and property out in the country between Nettleton and Amory Mississippi in the 60s. Some relatives said it was panthers and sounded like a woman screaming something terrible real late at night but I only ever saw bobcats.

Decades ago, when I was a young man, my buddies and I would take hunting trips into seriously remote areas. I think we enjoyed the adventure and challenge of venturing out more than the hunting itself. One day, three of us were on foot, navigating our way through the woods to a small lake about a half-hour away from where we left our off-road vehicles. We heard a wolf howl. It was loud too, echoing off the low, marshy spot we were in at the time. So here we were, three robust young men in camo, experienced in the outdoors, carrying guns ..... and that sound instantly stopped us dead in our tracks. I think we each had a moment of wanting to gtf outta there. lol
