We called them slicks in Vietnam. A door gunner would tell you if they ran that meant they were undisciplined local Viet-Cong Cong and the door gunner would shoot the runners. If people stood their ground and remained calm as the slick approached, that meant the were disciplined North Vietnamese Army and the door gunner would shoot them too
That is so very cool to watch that kind of start up of a modern helicopter, reminds me of watching videos of them starting up the old prop airplanes.
