We called them slicks in Vietnam. A door gunner would tell you if they ran that meant they were undisciplined local Viet-Cong Cong and the door gunner would shoot the runners. If people stood their ground and remained calm as the slick approached, that meant the were disciplined North Vietnamese Army and the door gunner would shoot them too

Well, that was the first thing I noticed she was a girl second thing I noticed she left the passenger door open! Not really sure why she had the blade, but guess military folks might understand that more than I do!

Not too many people know this, but part of the Official Procedure when starting up a Bell UH-1 Huey Helicopter is to rotate the main rotors 100 revolutions in a Clockwise direction until the bungee cords are under full tension, and then and only then can you spin them as forcibly as possible in a Counter Clockwise direction once the Pilot has given you the 'Thumbs Up' or 'Otay !' to do so😂

Back in the days my husband worked at Bell aircraft in Niagara Falls and got to see them all the time. I have a letter to him that is canceled with the first mail to travel by a helicopter.
