The young dogs need to be taught early not to play with the livestock or they may end up killing them when they get older. They are not play things, they are to be protected.

So true about being protective. My Great Pyrenees gentle rules our pack & neighbor dogs at times. She runs off or attacks threats (even at our neighbors(goats/chickens) they love it.) Lots of coyotes, some wolfs & once a bear that was around our beehives, she has scars from that one but she won. Takes care of business. She’s so gentle with kids but wont let anyone touch her that’s not family, won’t take food from anyone but family, not that she needs too… she’s constantly dragging in deer carcasses & turtle shells to gnaw on & share her her pack. Beautiful companions.

some times the puppies need to be educated. that's why you pick the calmest puppy you can and as young as you can. when they grow up with the lambs they think they are lambs but with teeth

That was not play folks. The Pyrenees dominated the Newfoundland. His white head over her shoulder. His body dictating movement & direction. Dogs have an AMAZING ability to get their message across with out any bloodshed. 👍🏼💕
