In Switzerland this is - or was when I was growing up there- a daily occurrence. We would open the window and air out our pillows and duvets by laying them on a towel over the window sill. I don’t know if it’s still done like that now.

I have a clothes line and hang mine in the sun occasionally. You'd be surprised how it freshen them. I buy new once a year. Use pillow protectors too.

If you have neck pain put your pillow in the sun like in the video. It will help your pain.
The problem is bird can crap on then. Other things. Solution is just put in dryer & fluff them on just air for a bit.
