When sunlight hits the escalator at just the right angle, it creates a strobe effect. The steps move continuously, but your eyes see them in flashes, like frames in a movie. That’s because the sun flickers through the gaps in the steps, syncing with their motion and tricking your brain into thinking they’re skipping. Nature meets illusion — pretty cool, right?
