Leland Harold "Trey" Cooley III was a 14-year-old boy who was killed by a ricocheting bullet in a tragic accident at his father's Dallas gun club in 1991. The investigation into his death was featured in an episode of the TV series Forensic Files called "The Magic Bullet". The bullet came from a handgun prone to "double recoil," an issue where a second shot can be inadvertently fired upward after the first. This errant second bullet was the one that followed the freak trajectory that ultimately killed Cooley.
