When you get shot in the head a point blank range the sound never registers. It鈥檚 just darkness.

It went black like that because Bobby bacala said when you die it all goes black. The scene was meant to be in Tony鈥檚 point of view. So as soon as his daughter walked in he was shot and killed. That鈥檚 why it went black.
Tony's entire existence is living in uncertainty; the audience joins him in that uncertainty in the final scene.
David Chase, the creator of The Sporanos, already came out and said it was Tony's death scene. You gotta pay attention to the guys that walk past him to the restroom. Look at Tony's face, even he knows. 馃挴 10/10 show, definitely need more like it.
Not exactly as iconic as Shane riding off into the sunset, more like a how to understand interpretative dance class for the masses. The world watched and the collectively said "huh, WTF?" just like they were flash mobbed by a interpretative dance group.
Tony gets whacked. And when Tony gets whacked. That鈥檚 the end of the show.
If it was from Tony's point of view, shouldn't the camera have been pointed at his daughter, where Tony was looking? I can appreciate what they tried to do there but it just didn't feel like Tony got killed.

steve perry of journey waited til the last minute to approve the use of this song because he was afraid the song was gonna be used when someone was being killed. since the finale ending was such a secret, steve Perry eventually gave his permission when he was told of the ending sequence and was made to promise that he wouldn't tell anyone prior to the episodes broadcast.
