Maybe I'm confused, but why do people feel that he is petty? Because he has money? Instead of her asking to "borrow" the money, she should have just asked for it, clarifying that "this is not a loan". Had he borrowed money from her(which we know he wouldn't have), I'm sure she would have wanted it back! Sometimes people will take your kindness for weakness. Even if they were or were not in a relationship, you are not obligated to financially take care of someone. Sure, you would help them but it's not a mandate! My Mom always told me "Don't loan money that you can't afford to lose"!
