Our home was built in the 70s. It was supposed to be tile through out. They elderly couple covered it all up with carpet. We pulled the carpet immediately and the transformation was incredible! Copper colored tiles throughout with golden, black and emerald tiles as outlines.
Interesting pattern—a bit busy! Personally—I PREFER WALL TO WALL CARPETING!!!!!!!!! It’s comforting and I can sit on the carpet which I LOVE TO DO. I’ve always liked to get down low with my pets and even kids to play. Flooring in Living rooms,bedrooms, family rooms is just COLD, unfriendly and a PAIN IN THE BUTT TO SWEEP AND MOP. Give me a vacuum over a mop any time!!! I KNOW you need flooring in kitchen, baths and utility rooms—and that’s still mopping that I DETEST!!!!

my parents (who smoked like trains in the house) were forced to remove the carpet in our home because all three of us kids had severe allergies, lo and behold hardwood flooring that increased the value of the house tremendously a year later....

When I pulled mine up, all I found was plywood that all had to be replaced. lol. In my kitchen, there were three layers of linoleum. The second was a dark brick that I considered keeping but was concerned it would show too much dust. So all three came up. In hindsight, I should had left two layers down for insulation purposes. One if my outside sheds, I found 3 bottles if opioids with two syringes that were enclosed with the soffit. I mean, that still makes no sense to me. They would have had yo do some serious damage to get those things out. Why not just-toss them? I never would had known if it didn’t need replaced 11 years later. The prior owners name was in script bottles. Some peeps lack common sense.

Be careful about what kind of tile you find. Some tile back in the day was made with asbestos. You have to jump through hoops to remove it, and it's expensive to do it. Because of that, a lot of people just covered it up.
my mom bought a house built in 1961 and somewhere down the line somebody covered an absolutely beautiful terrazo floor with ugly carpet. Go figure.....

fabulous- when we moved into our house in connecticut.I had not seen it in person yet.... Now this was a long time ago😆 there was this awful rust shag carpeting all over the place which immediately came out while my husband headed to home depot for white paint!!! gorgeous, gorgeous hardwood floors all throughout!!!
