my grandma used 9ne of these. Took the hot embers from the fireplace or cook stove. Also did this with bedwarmers in the winter. And to keep from going outside to the outhouse at night, used a chamber pot

My grandmother had a familiar iron. It wasn’t where she could put colon into it, but it was solid. She had to put it on top of fire and then let it. I guess get to a certain temperature she will iron and she ironed her tablecloths hurting her cloth napkins, her apron, my grandpa‘s underwear that was a ironing womanand a very smart one. This lady here reminds me of her. They always had a smile on her face very obedient to God and a very, very kind and given person. I miss her so much but she did live to get to 103 thank you.

My grandmother had irons that she set on the wood stove to heat. She would always sprinkle the clothes with water as she pressed them.

Yep! Old fashioned doesn't earn the disrespect that modern folks call the, " I wouldn't own one if you paid me!" The truth is known as the old gadgets, never break down!To this day, I still use a hand held cultivator to break up the ground for the new planting season. It always works well, and I tire out before the hand tool will!!!
