I did a little digging to see what I could find out as to why you should do this and it said it does nothing! If it's for security reasons, no burgalar is going to look there and since he's already in the house why should he? 😂 So if anyone feels robbed of 2-3 minutes of life, don't feel bad because I wasted time looking for an explanation! 👍😆
The video is backwards. Put a quarter on a piece of frozen water. If your freezer defrosts while you’re away, the quarter will not be on top of the ice-even if your lost power is restored, it will be below the top of the ice.

That must be th' priceless key to th' secrets of life❗ Once ya find one I reckon it's prob'ly a really smart idea to hide it well so no one swipes it from ya... ...but what if ya have a burglar that has acquired info lettin' him/her know how long you're gonna be gone an' plans to hang out an' cook an' eat your food as long as your gonna be out of pocket? That piece o' garbage could very likely easily but accidentally run across it...myself, I'd just carry it with me in my jeans watch pocket...I feel it'd be much safer there...sure would hate to lose th' key to life once I'd found it tho'❗ 😉👍

unbelievable,when it's thawed out it will be useless, only thing I can think of would be to drop it off at the recycling center and turn it in for scrap price. then recycled and used in a Ford F150 frame.
IF YOU FREEZE A CUP OF WATER, THROW A KEY OR ANYTHING WITH A BIT OF WEIGHT ON TOP & LEAVE IT IN THE FREEZER & HAVE TO EVACUATE FOR DANGER (forest fire, hurricane, etc) & when you return, the item is at the frozen BOTTOM of the cup, your fridge went off & your ground beef thawed & refroze, think before you eat it! That is from New Orleans evacuation list.

It’s a house key you’re outside of the house. The key is in the freezer in your house
Ur supposed to put a coin on Top of the FROZENwater-filled cup/dish. If the power goes out while ur gone and the freezer has been off too long, the coin will drop thru the water as it thaw. That will let u know... Don't eat any food in that freezer!

I do the opposite when I go on vacation - use a frozen water cup and put a coin on top. If it has dropped when you get home, that means your power has been out.

what you do is....FREEZE the liquid FIRST..then lay a key, coin, etc on TOP of the frozen liquid. When you return home, check to see if the item is still on TOP of the frozen liquid🤔; if it is your electricity wasn't off while you were gone. But if the item is at the bottom of the container then this means your electricity was off & thawed out & re-froze when it came back on. Be careful what you eat out of the freezer. Some products don't thaw & re-freeze well!!😲

HUH??? I have a real hack. Freeze a small cup of water, then put a quarter on top and return to the freezer. You'll know if you lost power long enough for the ice to melt, even if it restarts and refreezes the water. Throw out that food, it's no longer safe.
