yea there is a HOA by me, this guy had family come for the summer with campers , all set up nice and neat, HOA told him he can't have them there. what a croc of crap. we are a free nation, when the day comes that you give up any of those freedoms for a HOA or anything else, that's a very sad day indeed.

I lived in one a couple times and they weren’t aggressive, someone has to manage the maintenance of neighborhood pool, lawn and landscape maintenance of common areas . Other responsibilities include new home construction house plan approval, you can’t have someone build a 1000 sq ft starter home in a neighborhood with 3500 sq ft brick homes, or someone throwing up a chain link fence in a nice neighborhood. If you buy private land you can build anything you want but a designed neighborhood has to have rules to keep the property value up

For years people have lived in an HOA free area and their neighborhoods have been pristine recently my cousin who has resided in his home for several years decided to build his mailbox as a carbon copy of his home which the HOA deemed inappropriate and requested it be promptly dismantled who was it hurting it was beautiful

a friend of mine lost his job when the company sold out and restructured. so he went to Texas for another engineering position. he managed to get out of the house, a realty company was trying to sell it for him. almost a year and a half later the HOA chased him down and wanted almost 6 thousand in dues. he was still getting established in Texas and just declared bankruptcy to get completely free of the house and HOA. they say they still want the money because he still has a contract with them.

Nobody HAS to buy property in an HOA. When you’re in contract to buy a home in an HOA the seller provides a copy of the community governing documents. The potential BUYER IS SUPPOSED TO READ THEM. IF the buyer is unhappy with what they read they can nullify the contract and look for a home elsewhere. If the buyer proceeds with the purchase they acknowledge and accept the terms of the documents. The problems are not HOA’s. It’s realtors that don’t explain what it means to buy into a HOA, and buyers who don’t read anything before (during or after) they purchase their home. Buyer beware is not a slogan.

An HOA and most of the people were great really really great and I’ll tell you right now. It was Lake Villa Illinois. I had a house built beautiful home. I had not a big property. I don’t know an acre half an acre to recorders. I don’t even know what it was but anyway it’s beautiful house. I kept my yard up really good. I had flowers all over the place and I wasn’t feeling good for a couple weeks And the front grass through a little bit too long and I had a little police man come to my door and knock on my door and say ma’am there’s a little there’s some complaints about your grasp being too long. What are you kidding me I had flowers everywhere and beautiful trees I planned I built a patio. I mean everything was perfect. I have pictures of it. I can prove it to anybody and these morons and I’m not sure who it wasComplete that my grass was like an inch too long that’s insanity.
