My mailman used to walk through my lawn everyday. I complained to the postmaster general. This is what he said. Mailman are afforded the luxury of walking the shortest distance to your mailbox. If that means walking through your grass to cut off 50 steps of their route then so be it. That means a few thousand steps a day and 20 minutes cut at the end of the day. If you don’t like it come get your Mail at the post office. That’s a real conversation with the postmaster around 30 years ago.

Get a walking mail route yourself and you will understand why they take the shortest path. Poor grass, you walk on it and mow it.

If it is her property and it looks like she puts a lot of work into her yard, then stay the hell off her grass. There is a concrete path to avoid it. A few steps will not hurt him but it will create a path on her lawn. He is wrong for that. You people saying that it is only grass must have never lived in a home that you had to maintain. Everybody does not appreciate a good yard and that's OK but respect others that do!

We are required to walk on the grass to save time between deliveries. If she doesn’t want her grass walked on she can move her box moved to the edge of the lawn.

Being a retired mailman, I had a walk route of 6 1/2 miles every day. With arms full of mail and parcels in bag. I looked out for all my customers everyday, and walking on their grass wasn't an issue. Because they knew I cared and did my best. When not on my route they complained about service.

The walk next door on the person’s lawn was just for spite. I’d see up a motion sensor water sprinkler. It would be worth the trips to the post office to get my mail and while I’m there, I’d be filing a complaint.

First of all, I wouldn't have walked on the grass. I was raised that that would be disrespectful as fuck. I probably would have gotten my ass beaten as a kid if I did. Lol If I did and they asked me not to I would respect their wishes and not walk on it.

I agree with this lady because this happened to me. The mailman was making a trail through my nice green grass everyday. I contacted the USPS and filed a complaint that I didn’t want them walking on my grass and making a trail use the sidewalk. Why can’t they walk on the D sidewalk like everyone else. It stopped for awhile then there was another mail person and they did the same thing. They need to know people work hard to keep their yards looking nice and don’t want them making a trail through it.

wow, money, effort and maintenance goes into making a lawn look good...people see the improvements and all of sudden, they want to use it, as side walk..as you can see, the grass is not concrete...use the street and the driveway...jealous people cause, unnecessary issues, all the time..trust me, I side with her..

I asked my carrier not to walk on my newly laid sod and she told me I had to get a contract with her supervisor stating she couldn't walk on my grass...never heard such nonsense in my life, but I checked and unfortunately it's true...they're told to use the shortest distance from 1 house to the next...and that's through the grass

What happened to courtesy? Respect? Boundaries? Ppl work hard for years to obtain and maintain their homes..most ppl that have a lawn have a path to walk on. It's not about grass and whether or not it grows back or if it hurts the grass or "it's just grass". It's about the lack of respect and courtesy! Don't lean on my car..especially after I just washed it! That's not being hung up on owning something or thinking I'm better than anyone or my things are better than anyone else's. It's simply showing respect for someone else's things. Grass, car, clothes, anything. That postman won't lose but 3 seconds by walking the path. How do u justify blatant disrespect by saying its just grass or people think they're better? Respect is lost..shameful.
