I don't know what they are eating, but it looks like it is MOTHER/DAUGHTER TIME.. They both look WELL FED.. The plates and table are CLEAN.. They may not be RICH, but they are TOGETHER.. Regardless of anyone’s opinion, is a beautiful gesture when a mother and daughter sit down to enjoy the food prepared by mom. Eating with your hand is a natural and an instinct we all carry in our DNA. Just because of centuries in social control had gathered us like a flock of sheep headed to… is not a reason for judgement.

I worked with a girl that was from Africa. When I told her it was break time she didn't want to eat the food she had brought. When I asked her why she said she was embarrassed cause people made fun of her for using her hands. I put my fork down & told her it was ok to use our hands. She offered me fufu,fish & rice & I accepted it. It tasted better than my salad.
it isn't rice it's fufu. it comes from West Africa. it is a dough like ball made from starchy root vegetables like cassava or yams, or other ingredients like plantains or corn, pounded and mixed into a pliable mass
