Why do they pronounce "skedule" as "shedule," but call learning institutes "skool?" Schedule = skedule and School = skool. I have asked many people from England who speak this way and not one can say why.

Because it is a derivation of the word herbes in French, and the h is silent in French!!! English has adapted thousands of words from other languages, therefore, it is an very illogical language!

I’m a pilot. I had a British lady ask me why Americans mispronounced the word “aeroplane”. I pointed out it’s a “airplane” and we can call it anything we want since we invented the damn thing. To her credit she laughed and said “right you are!”

many parts of England don't pronounce the h.. they also in England pronounce herbs without the h so it sounds like erb.. English people do not pronounce it herb with the h they pronounce it the same way Australian people also pronounce it the same way along with people from Greenland and also people from Spain pronounce it the same way so I don't know what the hell this woman is talking about
