Lost my father when I was 7 but I have the best (step) Dad in the universe. What I’d do to have them both there💔 My Dad isn’t getting any younger, neither am I. I’m not ready to face that reality, yet. I already had to, once. Now that I’m gonna be 28, I know the feelings will be much different because of my depth of understanding, now, compared to then. And, I truly am NOT looking forward to “I wish my Dad AND Daddy was here to see this.” Being an adult sucks. Truly. I heard a saying once “our parents only spend a fraction of their lives, loving us. We spend our entire lives loving them.” My Dad missed 14 years because my Mom had two previous marriages (one being my father). I tell him all the time “you’re my Dad. I lost a daughter. she was 18 months old and would look out the window looking for me to come home. run through the house saying Daddies Home! one day we rented a older 50s style ranch house. it had these old pulley curtains with wheels. one of the windows was missing the lower wheel . she fell off the chair by the window looking out for when I might come home at naptime. my wife at 1pm wondered why she was still napping and found her hanging in the loop. we had baby gates and electrical socket protectors and thought we had childproofed the home. it only takes a few moments for them to get into trouble . watch them all the time.

Some of our families don’t have 2 parents that are happily together. Some of us have to live 2 separate lives and feel so distant from a parent while the other tries to gain your love. I just wanted everyone to be together but when they weren’t there for each other it put me in the middle and I just didn’t know wtf to do.

I miss when my kiddos were kids/ toddlers. my youngest is too cool to speak to me now but my oldest calls me and tells me about his accomplishments which make me feel amazing. he was my first true best friend. than came my second and I couldn't get enough of them both being 2 years apart. I took them with me everywhere. there mom called me one day and said come get them I can't deal with them anymore. I said say no more, keep the ebt cars too just check in with them at least. never happened, than once the hard part was over she wanted them back after 8 years?
