Wtf? This has to be bs , I started flying almost 30years ago and we had entire tracking systems you set up, plug in an electronic box that reads the data, and make your run. Never in my life seen this.
Why couldn't they use a machine to hold it? Just curious.
What is so dangerous? The blades are several feet above him. You are much closer to your lawn mower while using it.
Did this several times in the Navy. "1970" Very risky. The practice was finally outlawed. Sadly, if done correctly, it was fast and accurate.
that's how it's done...my buddy was a mech with UH1's...thats how they track and adjust rotor heads and blades...
American Helos do NOT require this insane type of testing. I can attest.
I did that for Huey's years ago.
is it a way dangerous job is scuba diving
he should wear a hard hat
Done that many many times in the Army, this for main rotor, broomhandle with crayon taped to it for tail rotor
much better to have on board blade tracking...
we did this in the late '60s on the Air Force helicopters to make the blades track in the same plane. it is not. I say not to balance the blade.
feathering
how about using a lazer
Yeah, way to fluff a basic job in the military...
Didn't like that the first time I tracked the blades. Next time we had a Strobe Light system for the HH3-F.
saw a guy on a flight line loose his head not paying attention and walked into the rear rotor blade..
That's some old school blade tracking technology. We've since learned that blade yracking is not as important as rotational balance, especialky when you get into dissemitry of lift during forward flight.
I pinch my finger tips together and if all the blades pass through it’s aligned. If it touches a finger it’s not and I adjust.
Did that many times on S55, S58 and S58T helicopters.
Did that tracking Huey’s in the 70s tracking flag
noooo...67u10= nooooo...
wow@!! crazy job there.🤔🤔🤔😲😲😲👍🙏👍👍
