somebody messed up big time. in the hospital where I worked, once a patient received a narcotic, extra attention was given to prevent them from wandering. it's not just his assigned nurse, but all who worked on the route he took out of the hospital. also, why didn't they secure his keys? we recommend securing all belongings that are replacement specific (keys, license, SS card, etc.) in the security safe. it's a process to protect items. I have put items in and taken them out. requires 2 staff members to be present.
