It is 100% UNLAWFUL for an officer to demand identification from the passenger on a simple traffic stop. The officer can legally ask for identification from the passenger but the passenger has the right under the 4th ammendment to refuse. It should not go any further then that if the officer actually respects and honors the oath that he or she swore to uphold and defend the United States constitution. It has become an epidemic in law enforcement that departments do not give sufficient training on the constitutional rights that protect the very citizens they serve. 8 out of 10 officers cannot even tell you what the first ammendment is...
It depends on your state. Know the laws in your state. In Texas if a law enforcement officer ask you for ID, you must comply. Republicans passed that law after they saw so many black and hispanic people questioning them.

They asked the passengers for their IDs for their safety because that passenger could have a warrant he could have a gun charge pending on him. There’s a numerous things that he could have so just comply if you haven’t done anything wrong just comply. That’s not so hard.!!!!!
If the cops knew the guy and knew that he had warrants, they they CAN legally arrest him in the warrant!!!

They still can ask the passenger to step out and search him or her for weapons. The can't look in his pockets but just do a frisk. They can let him back into the car or have him wait outside. It looks like they got pissed of because he didn't defer to their authority and kiss their boots. A case of riding while black. He should have stepped out of the car and complied. You see this with cops all the time especially if there is more than 1. They're BOTH Want to be in charge and you can tell it fills them with great joy to give order after order After order and see the person respond. One says on your knees the other one days turn around the first one said I told you to get on your knees. They were trying to get the guy to get out of the car but he couldn't because they were in the way and grabbing at him. This guy is black so there has to be something he did that we can take him in for. That scene right there would be called resisting arrest. or obstruction whatever they want to call it. They are so afraid that he's going to get away that they won't move to let him get out of the car. We don't need these kinds of cops.
