Did you know that if you take one pound of (85/15) ground beef, 1tsp each (salt, pepper, garlic powder & onion powder) then fry them in a pan sprays with oil, you will ACTUALLY get delicious hamburgers.

That's a great depression hack for feeding a large family with a small amount of meat. That's not new. Biggest difference is that they would not have used heavy cream. Just milk, flour or stale bread crumbs, and would have used fresh chopped onions, and salt and pepper. I grew up in the 50s and saw my mom do this when money was tight and a large family to feed. She called it Salisbury steak and would make brown gravy to go with it.
