I always thought the "African American" thing was weird. My Dad was born in Austria but nobody ever referred to him as Austrian American. Africa is a whole continent with individual countries. Americans often lump all black people together as 'African Americans.' No one calls my Dad European American. That means my Dad could be French, Scottish, German, or whatever. But he was born in Austria, which is a totally different country. Same with Africa. What if you're Jamaican? Then you likely have some African heritage but that doesn't make you 'African American.' Are Cajun people French? Partially 'African American?' The term 'African American' makes no sense because that means all black people in our country are ignorantly 'labeled' & generalized to a continent due to skin color. If you were born in this country & you're black, you're American. You're skin color may be black, but you're really not an 'African American.' You're part of our country's population who happen to be black. 😄😄

I don't understand why Race should be taken off applications! I have been in the workforce since I was 15 and I'm now 54, it has NEVER been an issue until just recently. If people would stop calling out colors, we might stand a chance of unifying again. I mean we all have eyes and can see what color you are!
