I had an elective hour my junior and senior year in HS to do whatever I wanted. I chose to be a TA in special education . Working with all sorts of "disabilities". They show you that they are way brighter and the way I put it, genius level smart contained by certain capabilities. One student with ds was truly one of my biggest role models and best friends back in HS over 20 years ago. I wish I knew how to contact him.

kindness is an easy thing to share
that was so nice of that couple to allow that boy with down syndrome attend their prom it's people like that who make children with special needs feel very special I know I am a grandmother of a 13-year-old boy who is autistic.
This community has some of the sweetest people I've ever come across . I had a friend that looked like this young man . One time he came with his mom who was an acquaintance and so I said hello and told him he smelled really nice (he did ) after that he would come by at least once a week . He had a date once so he came and told me he didn't know how to dance so I got up and told him I would teach him I gave him a few pointers and so up he went ! the following morning be came jumping like a jelly bean and told me he had a girl friend thanks to me because she said he was a gentleman .lol They all are very happy people When I left he cried and bought me a present with his own money and told me I would always be his best friend !!!
Yeah, they told my grandson he has autism like guy he鈥檚 eight years old. They said he wasn鈥檛 allowed to take the state test because he would just failed anyway and they don鈥檛 want their numbers to go down and know what these schools are so fucked up to treat people like this. My daughter took him out of school because they were so mean man they don鈥檛 teach teachers how to teach autistic children and they are so mean to these kids it鈥檚 pathetic. Well where I live they are I would really beat the shit out of somebody if they hurt my grandson. It鈥檚 messed up. It really isGod bless you all.馃檹馃徏

That is discrimination and I would be suing that school and school board for allowing this to happen. He has just as much of a right to be at his prom as any other student! He will enjoy this prom more than anyone!!!
