**Hear me out, I process credit cards for a living and work with this equipment*** ok.. so I'm having a hard time understanding what am I'm supposed to be impressed by. Like what is he actually trying to "teach" me. " Of course, this works if that's EVM chip. Copper extends the signal. Nearly all card readers, pinpads, and terminals have the ability to beep when a card is detected. If it's something about the security of the EVM chip (pretty darn secure). They are more secure than the mag strip readers, but all technology has its flaws, trust me. you don't want to know what other "tricks" are out there in regards to bank cards. So what am I missing?

Nothing magical...looks like the cut out the chip and wired it to a piece of copper wire...it's the chip/stripe, not the card that holds the data

you hooked the chip in a credit card up to a loop of wire. this is exactly how it works INSIDE the card! a loop runs around the border of the card to pickup RF from the reader. the RF induces current in the loop which powers the chip so it can return a code. you just took the wire loop outside of the card! not "magic" but exactly how they are meant to work.
