The cyclist was an idiot. A bike lane isn’t a safety bubble, and it doesn’t make you immune to basic reality. Roads are shared spaces, not entitlement zones. The driver was clearly setting up for a right turn at the intersection, and instead of using common sense, the cyclist chose to push the issue. That’s not bravery—that’s stupidity. It doesn’t matter who’s legally right when you’re on a bike versus a car. Defensive thinking applies to everyone. If you’re ahead and can prevent a dangerous situation but refuse to, that’s on you. Courtesy and awareness keep people alive. Ego gets people hit.

But even when I do ride I know not to stay in someone’s blind spot especially coming to an intersection. This guy is just a moron.

There shouldn’t be a bike lane, period. There is no reason a sub 100lb bike should be sharing a road with vehicles that weigh 2 tons or more. If it’s needed, then use barriers like a highway
