Most people don't have the land to have sustainable gardens.
That’s the way we lived in the old days, we only bought flour,sugar,black pepper and salt from the grocery stores and it was a great life experience for us all.then the government decided that we should have everything we needed provided by the taxpayers.now everybody wants free government assistance and they are dumb when it comes to surviving on their own

There’s lots of things that you still need to order from the grocery store like salt, pepper vinegar, toilet paper unless you want to use corn cups and paper towels and a list goes on and on and on! Not even mentioning your lottery tickets

Same here.....the point is, we do not have to go to the grocery. I like rice and do not have a rice patty. I like salt and do not make my own ( there is a Salt Lick near though). I do not render any lard or tallow, but I could.

when I was born my family, extended too, raised everything we ate except the seasoning we used, we got that in town at the only grocery store.

You have a clean clear water source! Hard to find anymore! Our game animals are diseased or poisoned, (mercurial fish). No home-ec or shop in our schools anymore. People don't know how to "survive" any more. 😪🙏 Greed, (oil) has poisoned and destroyed our planet!!!

yeah your cousin raises all the cattle that you eat could you go out and kill a deer a bear rabbits I guess it's the American way if you feel it's necessary to go out and kill some deer and don't make no difference if you got deer season or not it's my property they're on my property I can do what I want wrong well enjoy that wild animal that you want out and bravely killed from ambush bye now
you know I got a question for that guy why would you want to go out and kill some poor helpless defenseless animal what do you do set up in a tree and wait for him to walk by you probably put deer corn out all year long until season opens up you ambush them you don't hunt just like these people don't fish when you go out with fish locators going out and fishing is sitting on the fish on the the bank drinking some cold beer as we used to say ground the worm if you come home with one or no you want fishing hunting is not like it is you run around camouflage clothes you got animals sent to spray on yourself you got to use a again that shoots a bullet would go through 2 in of armored steel just to kill some poor little deer
