The National Park Service (NPS) says not to stack rocks because it is considered vandalism, is illegal, and causes significant environmental damage. Building unauthorized rock stacks, or cairns, disturbs soil, leads to erosion, destroys fragile ecosystems and habitats for animals, and can mislead other hikers if they are used as trail markers.

What's wrong with natural art? Just because you don't have the skills or time is no reason to push it over.

With any luck this guy kicking rocks over will get rectal cancer. With all the hate, war and killing in the world this little fun pile if rocks is what he's mad about? Maybe ass cancer will give him some perspective.🤞🏼

What about the thousands of hooks and lures and not to mention the thousands of miles of fishing line virtually in every fresh water source in North America. Hypocrite, at least they littered nature with nature.

some of those pile of stones may have significant historical meaning for them, and the clown that destroys them should be arrested.

u do know people use that method of rock stacking to mark direction or keep track so they don't lose their way and find their way back at least that's what we did when we were growing up and that's what my grandparents thought me

He’s so proud he set up a camera so he could destroy a trail marker. That’s what those piles of stones are the purpose is they mark a trail and anytime when you’re hiking and you have trouble seeing that trail and your spot one of these rock sculptures it’s such a relief

For context, what exactly does stacking a pile of rocks on top of each other do to damage an ecosystem? Honestly curious have not heard that yet

I have been hiking many times where I was having trouble. Seeing the trail ahead of me and those rock sculptures called carrens showed me the way. There were times that if I had lost the trail and lost my way, I could’ve been in trouble and those rock sculptures saved me. They are for a reason they are not decorative. They show hikers the trail ahead.

Part of the fun of hiking and fishing in remote areas is kicking over rock piles, not to mention I like the illusion of being in the wild where people leave nature as they found it.
