I was with my dad while he was gauging some oil tanks when I was about 10 years old and I got stung on the shoulder by a hornet...Felt like sebody drove a nail into my shoulder! My dad got a quick chaw of tobacco and put it on my shoulder ...took all of the poison and swelling out.

Before I retired ems and working in a pharmacy center I would be waiting for fools like this in the spring and summertime because some idiot like this after burning down their house would have a lot of wasp bee hornet and the new hornet wasp stings some requiring ICU treatment and innovation because if they have a reaction or there’s something fell on and why they were trying to get away in any event let the professionals deal with this pay the extra money and leave them alone or you’re gonna end up in the back of an ambulance on the way to the hospital, wondering what happened lesson learned the hard way

If you have a hornets nest? Instead of standing outside looking like an idiot about to burn your house down, wait until after sunset. They all go back in the hive at sunset and flap their wings to circulate air and keep a constant temperature in the hive. Blast that bad boy with wasp and hornet killer. Soak it. They will circulate the spray all through the hive and you'll kill them all without risking getting swarmed.

The hornets survived. In other news, the neighborhood burned down.

This is the WRONG time of year to be playing stupid games with hornets, jackets, & wasps. The cold weather makes them extra vicious. Don't get got.

Ground hornets are also terrible! I researched them and it says they recognize your face and will go after you. This is true. Whenever I would mow my lawn on the riding lm I would get stung and I could see so many hornets after I mowed this back lawn area. Big ole baseball size nest hole in the ground. I plugged it with an onion that was close by. The next day there was another hole the same size next to it. I tried at least 6 different times to kill them until someone told me to soak 2 rags in gasoline and plug the holes. I waited 2 days before I removed the rags and they were finally dead

My sister and I stopped by a favorite pub there was trivia night going on. 2 young men in their mid 20’s were near us. My brain is full of unnecessary facts. I was giving them the answers. My sis called me a cougar. Remember I was drinking. The next evening at a family dinner, I announced that sis called me a cheetah. My brother almost choked, and sis was laughing so hard she left the table. Why is that so funny? My cousin said, you need to get out of the classroom more often.

ill never forget the time I was 9 years old and I had some friends over, we were playing a big game of kickball in the back yard. someone booted the ball in to the woods, down a steep bank and at the bottom of the bank was a muddy creek. I went down the bank to get the ball, the ball landed in the mud right near a white faced hornets nest. I did not know it was there, walked right over it and all of a sudden I heard a crazy amount of buzzing, Saw a huge hornet land on my belly and sting me, then another and another, I tried to run but the bank was steep and I was sliding back down, freezing with fear, screamed for help and thats the last I remember bc I passed out and woke up getting an epi pen jabbed into my leg by an EMT. 60+ stings and 3 epi pen injections...what a nightmare

I watched a few YouTube videos and one night after work I quietly walked up to the nest fully covered and armed with two cabs of wasp spray and soaked the entire nest. The next morning I inspected the area and found no trash of the hornets or the nest.

I like those videos when they have a drone hover underneath one of these wasp nests. the sound disturbs the wasps and they come out and then they hit the road of blades and become decapitated, that s*** never gets old.

I have had a wasp nest on my front porch all summer. I bought the spray to kill them and then decided to just let them be because someone told me they eat spiders and other bugs. They are just part of the ecosystem. So I just decided to tiptoe around them and Walk slowly and they got used to me and they never bothered me at all.. I think you’re right about them recognizing faces because they knew I was a friendly neighbor who was just going out to hand water the lawn.

We used fire extinguishers. They kill instantly and the gas freezes them in the air. And instantly freezes the nest. Much safer than fire.

fun fact : try not to piss off hornet/wasp. they can remember people's faces and probably come looking for you in their vicinity; also that image of you that they have they can send it to other hornets. if you kill one (same with bees, ants, etc) by crushing it or whatever, the dead bug emits pheromones which its friends smell and come looking for it.

We had a mowing contract to mow a new subdivision. Our worker mowed over the hornet nest in the ground and after he had gotten over the hole the hornets came out and started attacking him. He jumped off the tractor and ran and jumped in the pond before we realized what was going on. The hornets finally left and we rescued him. These two incidents happened in Missouri City Tx. The last time we had an encounter with the hornets we lived in Cleo, Tx. There was a tree that had a nest in it. The horses walked under it and for some reason made the hornets mad. They stung all the horses while they were running away. The hornets mean business.

Best time to get them is at night when they're all in the hive and spray it down and you won't have worry about fire burning down the trees
