WHY do people who know NOTHING about military weapons post this stuff? They are NOT “guided missiles”. They are homing torpedoes….probably Mk 46. Also, the chute did not fail. It’s a drogue chute which ensures the weapon enters the water nose down when dropped from either an ASW helicopter or aircraft.

In the 70s I used to load MK-46 torpedoes on SH-2F helicopter for HSL-32 out of NSA Norfolk. It's all been decommissioned, history.
