HOT

I worked on an offshore oil platform in Alaska for 12 years…I was the first woman to work offshore in Alaska back in the 70s and 80s, but we never had waves like this. This is mind blowing!!!… we sure had a lot of whales in the inlet. 😲

I wonder how many women work out there. They're equal aren't they. No, they're nothing close to equal.

This looks very dangerous for the men who maintain this oil rig. Hope they are paid for the courage they show daily to maintain this rig. God bless you all.

My father walked to the north sea and the bearing Straits… he saved a lot of people on a research vessel. They called them every year at the same time… He was an amazing man. He never drew attention to himself. .. I miss him every day! Thank you, God you gave me a great daddy.

There's nothing that anyone can build out there that can withstand nature, nothing! The ones who work on those are brave and probably have some pretty good insurance coverage! 😆

Just looking at that fills me with terror. That’s water miles deep, cold, wild and the ginormous creatures who would tear you up and make you dinner. But don’t worry about them. The water will probably drown you first. 😳😬🚢🛳️🌊🌊🌊🌊🦑🦑🦈🦈☠️☠️

Don’t underestimate the North Atlantic. It actually can get worse than this. I was out there on a Navy vessel with a flat bottom. Real character builder. GO NAVY!

The beach current, waves, undertow can be fierce. I Almost drowned and a man close to me did. Never went back in the ocean again. The people who work out there on these vessels in these conditions Deserve to be very well paid.

That's why they get the big bucks. I knew a man who welded on the big oil rigs in the Gulf Coast. He did not want to talk about welding deep under water wearing scuba gear. It sounds very stressful.

How do you pump oil when the oil rig is rattling like that? And, where do stored oil when it is pumped from the seabed?

I thought these oil rigs were stationary with all those legs posted down deep in the sand. This looks like a floating rig unless it's come loose from the bottom. If that's the case, that thing is prolly at the bottom of the ocean by now. I'd work on one but I don't think I would after surviving that.

Is there an increase in physical, emotional or mental issues from living in that environment? Not trying to knock it but just wondered if they ever get used to it. Are there certain people they would not because it could trigger them into unacceptable behavior?
