To be fair, India was colonized by Muslims Arabs before being re-colonized by Christian British. Also to be fair, the somewhat respectful way India was colonized by the Arabs allowed for the continuing practicing of small, independent polytheistic religions, which eventually combined and became Hinduism, the third largest religion in world today.
