Surya Bonaly, was far more technically talented in her performance than the other figure skaters, yet fell short because she executed a flip that no one else could manage!....That what she got for being an absolutely magnificent performer and athlete!!

False news. She did a back flip in her competition which is AGAINST the rules and she KNEW THIS. . THATS WHY she placed 2nd. It had NOTHING to do with her SKIN STOP THE DIVIDING.
Hate to tell y'all, but Bryan Boytano did many backflips in ice skating. Male, yes. White, yes. Disqualified, NEVER!! Now, I'm white & remember watching her skate many moons ago. I loved watching her skate. I'm not going to invest my time in arguing over race, but I will say that yes, I have seen other do it & not get disqualified. Many of the men who skated in the late 90's & early 2000's did it & judges thought it was so amazing they often gave higher scores to the ones who did.
She couldn't be denied when she did a flip no one else could do. Not gracefully, but with power and elegance. Historic❣️❣️

This literally had nothing to do with race and everything to do with style. Although she did never seen before flips and moves it didn't meet the scoring parameters. Traditional figure skating was scored based on grace and elegance. Not athleticism which is why she was scored that way. It's not always about race.
They punished he for doing her best because they couldn't do it. DEI was always for them never us.

I watched this that day. Clearly she should have won gold. She skated a perfect routine, the girl they gave the gold to fell and two feeted a jump.
Loved watching her skate. The backflips were a no no but she did them to protest her score.
