It’s also disrespectful for a black person to use that word. It makes me cringe every time I hear anyone using that word. I grew up in the 50’s-70’s and we were taught NOT to EVER use that word. In our house, that was a “wash your mouth out with soap, get a spanking” kind of word.

The problem with the word is it was named by the government as hate speech for its derogatory use, because it incited violence. Next we will say calling someone Nazi is hate speech because of our current societal use of the word. But just like black people using N word, Nazi will be the new N word that people use in the multi manner the N word is used. Then, it will be a good thing in certain circles to be called Nazi and we will lose the stigma associated with that word as time moves beyond remembrance or care.

The N word should not be used at all, by anyone. IMHO Also, context is important in any dialog. I would have to see how he used the N word to reach any logical conclusion. (Again, I wish that word could be dropped from everyone's vocabulary) As my Marine Corps drill instructor taught us many moons ago ... "You are no longer black, white, yellow, or red. You are all GREEN from now on."
